2417: “Bad Guys” was what band’s first music video on MTV?
The song also appeared in the 1986 movie of the same name.
A. The answer to this is Precious Metal, the California band that rode the thin line between punk, pop, and a splash of metal. I mean, they had metal in their band name afterall, and Rolling Stone included them on their '50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time,' ahead of Mr. Big's ' Lean Into It,' so they did something right.
"We were originally approached by Polygram (Records) to use 'Cheesecake' in the movie 'Bad Guys,'" said vocalist Leslie Knauer in an undated interview with Metal Maidens, "I had a half-finished song from the Promises days, called 'Bad Guys,' so we kind of faked we had a master of it and would bring it in the next day. We raced over to our rehearsal studio, wrote it, learned it, recorded it from 7pm until 9am, took a shower, then Mara and I stumbled into Polygram at 11am with this finished master."
After four studio albums, the band called it quits in 1992.
