2407: ‘I Get Wet’

2407: Last week ‘I Get Wet’ turned 16 years old by what master of partying?

A. Well that’s Andrew W.K. of course, the master of partying.

Not gonna lie – I listen to this album a lot, and have cranked ‘Party Hard’ probably 1000 times this past year. Heck, I danced on a boardwalk with a good pal while listening to this tune cranking from my dumb little iPhone. Like, this one is special for me.

Oddly enough, Andrew W.K. explains in an interview with Pitchfork in 2012, that one of his inspirations was the song ‘We Are the World,’ “because that’s one of the first records I got where I specifically told my mom, “I want that song.'” You should totally go watch that video right now if you haven’t seen in awhile (or ever).

This clip of Cyndi Laurper is amazing, too. I always loved her voice.

But back to the matter at hand! Yes, there were / are some conspiracy theroies about Andrew WK from way back, one being that Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) was behind the whole thing, and there has been a number of legal battles over the years (this post on Metal Insider from 2010 covers it pretty well)… but, you know what?

None of that is partying, so why are we even discussing it?

Andrew WK’s latest album is ‘You’re Not Alone’, which came out in March.
